Environmental leadership
Since 2023, Tefa has served as Vice President of this 501c3 organization, a volunteer role responsible for daily operations focused on restoring and protecting the Ichetucknee River and its many springs.
Founded in 2013, the Alliance has a strong track record of leading community projects, hosting conservation events, and spearheading policy initiatives. The voluntary board members work steadily to educate leaders and decision-makers about the threats impacting the Ichetucknee, a sensitive spring run that has been deemed the most pristine in the State of Florida.
The longterm goal of the Alliance is to implement environmental policies that protect the ecological balance of the Ichetucknee River. Through inspiring waterways stewards, the hope is that this unique aquatic habitat will continue to thrive.

mermaids For conservation
Tefa has discovered the joy of natural waterway exploration through the sport of freediving. She specifically focuses on the art of mermaiding, a subset of freediving, to explore the waterways she works hard to protect.

Tefa is an internationally certified PADI Mermaid Instructor. She enjoys sharing her passion for conservation with students training to become mermaids. Mermaid certification programs are offered at Devil's Den in Williston, Florida and at Mountains to Seas Dive shop in Western North Carolina.
